Multiple award-winning kitchen designer Diane Berry of Diane Berry Kitchens says it’s getting more difficult to win awards.

Diane Berry: “It’s getting harder to win awards”

Diane Berry has scooped around 60 awards over her four-decade career including, most recently, the Kbsa Kitchen Designer under £25k 2022.

However, rather than getting easier, she feels it’s more difficult to win awards, and says its testament to talented designers in the kitchen industry.

Speaking about her award prowess, Diane Berry said: “I’m very fortunate to have won lots of awards over the years and it’s very strange; it feels like it’s harder to win them.

“I think that’s a real credit to the industry that we’ve lifted our game. It’s great to see such amazing design out there”, said Berry.

She continued: “I wonder if people think that I don’t appreciate it when I win them, because I have won a lot, and I’m very lucky I have won a lot, but because it gets harder it gets more exciting.”

Berry exclaimed entering and winning awards provides social media content and promotes interaction with clients, both in run-up to the event and if successful.

Speaking about the reaction to posting her Kbsa Award on social media, Berry said: “I’ve been getting ‘well done’ messages literally from the moment it went on to social media. It’s that lovely way of interacting with your customers.”

However, Diane Berry exclaimed: “The more awards I win, the more eyes are on me, the higher the expectations of the clients.”

Yet she has sights of adding further business awards to her existing design honours.

“I love winning design awards because that’s my passion. I don’t think of myself as a businesswoman – the business side of things follows my passion.

“The fact that I’m passionate about design, people and kitchens and doing what I do, the business kind of follows that. So, to win that [a business award] is quite a nice feeling.”
