Sink, tap and hood manufacturer Franke has re-entered the UK appliance market with the launch of the Mythos Appliance Family, a range of ovens, hobs and hoods aimed at the mid-upper end of the market.
The Mythos Family offers three Red Dot Award-winning 600mm ovens in steam and pyrolytic options, a compact combi oven, a warming drawer, two induction hobs and five extractors from its decorative hood range.

Franke originally launched major domestic appliances, Frames by Franke, in 2016 but pulled out of the UK market two years’ later to concentrate on its core categories of sinks, taps, waste management systems and hoods.
Speaking at the time, managing director of Franke UK Neil Clark said: ” I believe the UK market, with its continuing challenges, is best served by us prioritising our attention in these areas and not in appliances where the market is heavily represented already.”
Sales and marketing director at Franke Jo Sargent said the company’s decision to re-enter into the UK appliance market was because of opportunities provided by a new business division and a market beset by supply issues.
She stated: “In January 2021, the Franke Group created the Home Solutions division adopting a whole system approach to supplying a range of kitchen products including sinks, taps, waste management solutions and appliances.
“Across Europe, we successfully supply appliances into a number of markets from three distinct families of Mythos, Smart and Maris which are aimed at different price and customer segments.“
“We recognise there are ongoing supply issues in the UK which are hampering retailers’ ability to plan and complete projects and we can provide solutions to these problems with a high quality, focussed range of products.”
Jo Sargent explained some appliance models were already available in the UK, adding: “We already have induction hob extractors and hoods available in the UK, with several new models recently launched for 2022.
“But we also have the capability to supply ovens and so we have created this integrated offer for the UK market.”
She added: “The Mythos Appliance Family has been created to offer retailers a focused range that is easy to sell to customers and keeps their business rolling.
“Of course, we see an opportunity to plug a gap in the market which current brands are at times struggling to meet but we are committed to ensuring ongoing product supply, customer support and aftersales service.”
Jo Sargeant also spoke about the company’s commitment to the UK market to reassure kitchen retailers: “We recognise that we have previously launched and withdrawn appliances from the UK market, however we are in different times.
“We now have several years of proven experience of supplying appliances across many European markets, a strategic commitment from the Home Solutions division to a whole system approach, and a changed market beset with supply chain problems.
“We are in a strong and secure position with our supply chains, we have good stockholding and we can deliver just as we are doing with our sink and tap products.”
The Mythos range will be available ex-stock from distribution partners Swift, Waterline, Sinks & Things, Forth & Clyde and Bodel and supported by a suite of marketing assets, product registration and aftersales care.
