The second outing of Hotel Interiors Experience or HIX, at the Business Design Centre in London, delighted exhibitors, with one exclaiming it the busiest design show they’d attended in the UK.

The event, which included exhibition, talks, installations and social networking opportunities, attracted an audience of interior designers, architects and developers, alongside hotel operators.

Around 3.728 visitors, an increase of 16% on 2021, had the opportunity to view 135 suppliers representing a variety of sectors of hotel design.

The event space covered 2,500sqm and featured manufacturers and suppliers of bathrooms and surfaces through to furnishings and lighting.

Visitors also had the chance to network at the pop-up Mush Room bar space, where the bar top was created from fungus and cultivated by organic material artist Côme Di Meglio, in collaboration with creative studio La Succulente.

Over the two-days of the event, attendees also explored ideas in the programme of talks such as zero-waste, hotels in the metaverse and discussed future and imaginary visions of hospitality.

Co-founder of HIX Joel Butler commented on the event: “From last year’s theme of ‘all together now’, we felt that 2022 was all about great things growing, and the return of hotels.

“This feeling of post-COVID recovery, next-gen thinking and optimism could be felt on the stands, in the aisles, the talks and of course, the already iconic Mush Room bar. It was a fantastic few days.”

UK marketing manager for Flair Showers Andy Burton found the show to be successful: “Overall, we were delighted with the show which was professionally organised and well attended.

“HIX also provided the perfect opportunity for us to showcase the complimentary product portfolios of Majestic Showers, Flair Showers and Marflow Engineering alongside our dedicated specification solutions.”

David Osborne, chief executive officer at Roman, added: “The first day at HIX was the busiest design show that we have done in the UK – and with an extremely high calibre of visitors. We will definitely be back in 2023!”
