Residential, commercial and healthcare bathroom provider Ideal Standard International announced a collaboration with design studio Palomba Serifini Associati at Milan Triennale.
In addition, Ideal Standard also revealed the launch of a Design Centre in Milan, where Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba will work with Ideal Standard’s product team on an overall design strategy.
The manufacturer has worked with designers, as far back as the 1950s and 1970s, including Gio Ponti and Achille Castiglioni.

CEO of Ideal Standard International Torsten Turling commented: “The earlier design masters really elevated Ideal Standard into the culture of design, leaving behind a rich heritage of drawings and design archives.
“Having been ‘raised’ by these design masters and representing Italian design in all its aspects around the world, we could think of no-one better than Ludovica and Roberto Palomba to explore this heritage and translate it into the 21st Century.”
Commenting on the collaboration, Roberto Palomba said: “When done right, a well-design project completely transcends its function and becomes timeless.
“Some of Ideal Standard’s designs, created by Italian icons Ponti and Castiglioni are perfect testimonies to this principles.
“I am honoured to follow in the footsteps of these Italian masters and support Ideal Standard’s continued journey to design and develop innovations that will once again redefine not only bathroom design, but design in general.”
Roberto Palomba believes older designers are better than younger designers, as experience is required in “complicated and complex” world of design.
The first results of the collaboration between Ideal Standard and Palomba Serifini Associati will be previewed at ISH in Frankfurt from March 11-15, 2019.
