Kitchens created as multi-purpose spaces and outdoor living provide kbb designers an opportunity to stamp their authority on interiors, says director of Designer Kitchen by Morgan Darren Morgan.
Speaking in Kitchens & Bathrooms News exclusive video series #KBNOne2One, multi award-winning designer Darren Morgan said lockdown encouraged people to consider how the kitchen can fulfil additional functions and expand living outdoors.
It follows on from a video interview with showroom and design manager of Halcyon Interiors Graham Robinson who said the lockdowns had affected interior architecture, with a demand for hidden offices and utility rooms to share the kitchen tasks.

Morgan said kitchens can be shape-shifting, modular concepts and stated: “I think there’s a great opportunity for kbb designers to take advantage of this.
“Move away from the kitchen, that’s in the corner of the room, with an island.
“Bring your design ideas and pull them out into the space and allow kbb design to gain influence and a foothold within the interior design community and really stamp our authority on the whole thing.”
He said a key element of expanding the reach of kbb designers is the natural extension of living space from the inside to the outdoors.
“Let’s pull that outside space in and, vice versa, the inside space out. So make the most of any square footage you have in your property.”
And Morgan said consumers were now starting to ask for their kitchen to extend into the outdoor space.
“It’s a very exciting time to be in our industry and there is a lot of opportunity out there for people.”
