Storage adds most value to a kitchen refurbishment project

Painting walls and ceilings offered least added value

According to the National Association for Estate Agents (NAEA), kitchens have become priority in the buyers’ decision-making process and a survey has found storage adds the most value (72%) in their refurbishment.

Housing agent sellhousefast.co.uk conducted research with 34 estate agents, property professionals and designers and found fitted, energy-efficient appliances (66%) followed storage, then durable and stylish worktops (60%).

The lowest ranking feature to add value to a kitchen was the use of light/soft colour paint for walls and ceilings (35%).

However, the majority of experts agreed homeowners should aim for a combination of these kitchen features, rather than striving to have a specific one, for it to boost a property’s value.

The great takeaway from the consulted experts is that lavish and over-the-top additions are not needed to enhance the condition and aesthetics of a kitchen.”
