Kitchen and bathroom installers can continue to work in peoples’ homes, despite the second national lockdown or Tier 4 restriction, which comes into affect on November 5.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the restrictions would last until December 2 and then be reviewed.
While the Tier 4 restriction will affect ‘non essential’ businesses and intruct people to stay at home, the advice to tradepeople remains unchanged and therefore they are permitted to continue to work.

However, they must do so within Government guidelines of Working in other peoples’ homes.
The British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI) has requested clarification from Government, as it did with the Welsh First Minister on restrictions in ‘firebreak lockdown.
It will publish further updates for installers when they have been made available.
CEO of the BiKBBI Damian Walters said: “It’s clear that we need to do something as a country. We cannot allow this virus to ravage the nation and push our NHS to breaking point.
“However, it’s important that we balance the impact on our nation’s physicality, with its mental and economic health.
“I believe that the guidance already issued to tradespeople is sensible and therefore I see there is no reason why the same principles in Wales during their fire break restrictions cannot be applied in England.”
He continued: ” That said, we each have a responsiblity to slow this spread and as professionals we have a duty to ensure COVID safe measures are implemented in the full, as failure to do so may very well lead to a new, more restrictive tier which we should all do our best to avoid.”
The BiKBBI confirmed its head office will remain operational from November 5th, ensuring its own COVID safe operating procedures continue.
