Although Ultraviolet has been named Pantone Colour of 2018, it seems the interiors industry hasn’t yet had its fill of 2017’s Millennial Pink. Some say it started with the Rose Gold iPhone in 2015 and Pantone naming Rose Quartz as its joint colour of the year in 2016 but the pink trend refuses to go away. Even the 2018 Celebrity Big Brother house has splashes of pink on bedding, walls, furniture and the freestanding bath. So, here we look at 5 ways how Millennial Pink has influenced the kitchen and bathroom.

As an accent colour for kitchen furniture, such as island units, dusky pink shades have come to the fore. It perfectly partners popular grey and white neutrals, and materials such as timber, stainless steel and stone. Vintage Rose is shown on the Hampton furniture collection by Masterclass Kitchens.

Such is the influence of pink in interiors; contemporary design show designjunction will be creating a pop-up restaurant from pink quartz. Part of the Caesarstone Metropolitan Collection, Topus Concrete with a pinkish hue will be used for the main bar. However, designers can also bring the industrial aesthetic into the home, using it as a kitchen worktop, splashback or wall cladding.

Pink has also influenced the rise of the Rose Gold or Copper finish in the home, from lighting to handle trims. In fact, Bisque has recently introduced its Classic column radiator in a Rose Gold finish. It is overlaid with a matt lacquer to prevent tarnishing and can be matched to complement lighting.

Such was the significance of pink at Clerkenwell Design Week, Spanish tile manufacturer Harmony featured it in its Textil collection launch at Pentagon Tiles. The tiles were inspired by the weave of fabric, with a subtle mesh-like pattern. It creates a visual interplay that’s evocative of textiles.

For those inspired by the bathroom in the 2018 Celebrity Big Brother house, freestanding tub surrounds can be painted in pink. Luxury brand Burgbad offers the mineral cast Crono bath in four variants in a choice of rectangular or oval formats.
