Collection of 39 fridges
Smeg has unveiled a limited edition range of MG-inspired fridges to celebrate the opening of its new headquarters, built on the original site of the sports car’s factory.
Set to be unveiled at the MG Car Club’s MGLive! Event at the Silverstone racetrack in June, the collection features 39 fridges.
The number 39 is significant because it represents the number emblazoned on the MG K3, which won the Mille Miglia road race in Italy, and was the first non-Italian car to take the honours.

The FAB28RDMG is finished in the signature British Racing green and also features the iconic octagon MG badge with limited edition number.
It boasts 251 litres of capacity, three adjustable glass shelves, a fruit and vegetable container, a chrome wine rack, as well as a 2Kg freezer capacity.
Managing director of Smeg Mike Giddings said: “The fridges are a fitting tribute to the site of the original MG car works, which are a seminal part of British motor history. Smeg prides itself on strong community ties in Abingdon, and celebrating local history is very much part of the Smeg philosophy.
“We’re extremely privileged to have our fantastic new headquarters situated on a site that is already home to so much design and engineering excellence, and we hope to build on that heritage as Smeg enters an exciting new chapter here in the UK.”
The MG fridge follows on from the launch of its limited edition Dolce & Gabbana fridges in Milan.
