From the classically refined through to the relaxed and even avant garde (and that’s just the visitors), Decorex affirmed its position as a leading interiors show for the luxury end of the market. And the Syon Park-based show in Middlesex, which will move to London’s Olympia next year, was exclaimed a success. Over 400 brands exhibited at the event and Italian bathroom manufacturer Glass Design reported receiving 600 visitors at its stand, alone. It seems there is still a considerable market for interiors with equally considerable budgets. So here we offer five kitchen and bathrooms highlights where cost is not an issue.

Nothing epitomises luxury more than gold, sparkle and fountain-like water outlets, and Chadder & Co ticked all those boxes. The star of the stand was a gold mosaic covered freestanding bath with Royal Lion’s Head bath filler in polished brass. It was complemented by a bath rack with champagne holders, offering the sage water-saving advice “save water, drink champagne”.

Renowned for its ornate countertop basins, Glass Design introduced a range of minimalistic, geometric lead crystal basins with solid surface bases. These were shown alongside solid surface basins in white or black on a choice of bronze, black and white frames. The stand also showcased glass handles designed in collaboration with Dornbracht for its taps, through to door handles and bathroom accessories

Showing the trend for copper finishes is far from over, Hurlingham The Bath Company showed a roomset demonstrating it on the bath, shower and towel rail. It featured a freestanding bath and Rotunda shower tray both in copper and nickel, plus a wall-mounted radiator. The company now offers its Copper Bulle and Bateau baths in lengths of 2000mm

Showing its mixer, shower collections and sanitaryware, THG Paris showcased its collection of brassware with Les Ondes at the front of a stand on a customisable freestanding bath and complementary basin. It features a 10-faceted base, choice of straight or crosshead handles and comes in 27 finishes. The customisable options were mirrored by System, designed by Arik Levy, which comes in a choice of materials, as does the Montaigne collection designed by Stephanie Coutas.

At the heart of the Officine Gullo stand was a tailored kitchen created by interior designer Alison Henry, made from white matt-finished metal cabinetry with white oak column units. It featured nickel hardware and a Carrera Caldia marble backsplash, with a BBQ designed to co-ordinate the kitchen. Featured alongside the kitchen was the unusual dual swan-neck spout mixer with a ‘Titanic-style’ throttle temperature control.
Decorex was one of our recommended 5 events to attend at London Design Festival.
