FTK – Technology for the Kitchen 2022: Highlights

In its eight edition, FTK featured 43 brands which covered 10,500sqm and focused on intelligent, versatile, multifunctional and therefore sustainable kitchen appliances.

Here we provide a curated edit of appliances which highlighted the show’s themes.

1. Elica

Designed by Fabrizio Crisa, Elica unveiled Lhov, a combined built-in oven and hob with integrated extraction.

It removes vapours and odours from the hob and from the wide oven, that allows side-by-side cooking.

It was shown alongside the NikolaTesla Unplugged vented hob, which featured analogue touch&feel knobs for a natural interaction with the appliance.

2. Falmec

Introducing the Elements collection, Falmec unveiled modular extraction systems which forms part of the kitchen architecture.

Monolith sits on the worktop and combines a 900mm extractor with a choice of three concealed accessory bins to create a storage channel.

As its name suggests Shelf features a 1200mm extractor in a 10mm shelf, while Air-Wall is a backlit white glass backsplash with a magnetic surface, so accessories can be placed upon it, and with integrated extraction.

3. Bora

Extraction specialist Bora showcased its Bora XBO oven, which combines traditional built-in steam with an extraction function which prevents vapour from escaping when the door is opened.

Together with a charcoal odour filter, it been designed to maintain fresh air in the kitchen. It was joined by the S Pure hob which measures 600mm and is now available with a Light Grey or Sun Yellow air inlet nozzle and offered in a total of eight finishes.

4. Bertazzoni

Celebrating 140 years trading, premium kitchen appliance manufacturer Bertazzoni unveiled reportedly a world first.

It introduced the Professional Series 900mm range cooker with integrated hob and hood, which integrates three appliances in one.

In addition, it introduced two vented hobs the P804ICH2M37NT and P804ICH2M30NC – both of which are characterised by an exclusive central circular grill.

5. Signature Kitchen Suite

Premium brand of LG Electronics, Signature Kitchen Suite made its debut at Eurocucina/FTK with a 400sqm stand.

It offered four themes of Seamless Nature Kitchen, European Trendy Kitchen, Conceptual Kitchen and Botanic Art Gallery, illustrating the brand’s philosophy True to Food.

Signature showcased new undercounter convertible refrigeration (pictured) and undercounter wine refrigerator and previewed a 48” French Door refrigerator and 48” Dual Fuel Pro Range.

6. Smeg

Italian appliance brand Smeg unveiled its latest appliances, which will join its collection from between now to early 2023, with a focus on built-in.

This included its Galileo oven range which combines conventional, steam and microwave function, including the flagship model Omnichef combining all three functions and claimed to reduce cooking time by up to 70%.

In addition, Smeg introduced 600mm wine coolers, dishwashers with a sterlising programme, and added Nepture Grey and Matt Black finishes to its Linea and Classic collection of appliances.

And celebrating the 25th anniversary of its FAB refrigeration, its fridges were on display in an array of concept colours and finishes, allowing guests to the show to vote for their preferred option for the next launch.

7. ASKO

Swedish appliance manufacturer ASKO worked with Danish Norm Architects to create its stand for the show.

There it unveiled IFA Design Award winning appliances, including connected dishwasher with hygiene programme, wine climate cabinet with companion app, Celsius Cooking induction hobs with smart cookware (shown) and Elevate induction hob with integrated tower extraction.

Celsius boasts an induction hob with electronically controlled pans featuring temperature sensors in their base, a temperature probe and app with video-guided recipes. These all communicate together  to avoid undercooking or overcooking food.

Plus ASKO also added a Pearl Grey finish to its Elements collection spanning built-in ovens, coffee machine, warming drawer and vaccum drawer.
