Pantone Colour Institute has named its Colour of the Year as Viva Magenta, which is described as a signal of strength, which promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration.
With a shade rooted in nature, the shade js from the red family of colours which the institute states “revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying and boundaryless shade.”
Executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute Leatrice Eiseman commented: “In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real.

“Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.”
She said the colour is rooted in the primordial to connect to original matter and invokes the forces of nature, helping build inner strength.
It follows on from Very Peri which was Pantone Colour of the Year in 2022.
