There has also been demand for incorporating the colour of nature and renewal – green – in the home.

According to the 2024 Houzz UK Kitchen Trends Report, 1 in 6 renovating homeowners chose green cabinetry (16%), so it’s unsurprising searches for green kitchens have increased by 34%.

Searches for the colour green also climbed for bathroom tiles up 30%, bathrooms grew 26%, as well as increases for living rooms and walls, compared with the same period in 2023.

Bringing the charm of the countryside into the home, the search term country cottage interiors grew by almost half (49%).

Echoeing the trend for rural living has also seen the search terms for walk-in pantries and farmhouse bathrooms grow by 28% and 13% respectively.

In addition, homeowners are also looking to expand their living areas into the garden, with searches for outdoor kitchens up 31% and granny annexes almost doubling up 87%.

Interestingly leisure spaces have also grown in interest, as homeowners are looking to find a cosy area for hobbies this year, with searches for reading nook nearly doubling up 75%.

Media wall units have grown by nearly half, up 42%, while game room and family room are up by 29% and 23%, respectively.
