Axor launches student interior design competition

Created to challenge the next generation of interior design talent, it requires them to plan a bathroom inspired by their personal interpretation of luxury, using signature products from existing Axor collections.

The competition is open to current interior design students and those who have graduated within the past three years in the UK and Ireland.

Entries will need to include a description of the design solution, considering types of materials, colour scheme, lighting and styling, demonstrated by a mood board and 2D plans with measurements.

The most inspiring and creative response to the brief will receive a one-night luxury stay at the recently-opened Broadwick Soho hotel in London.

The Broadwick Soho, an independent, luxury hotel situated in London’s West End was designed by the team at Martin Brudnizki Design Studio.

The hotel bathrooms feature products from the Axor Montreux collection, which were customised through Axor Signature.

George McPherson, leading furniture and FFE designer at the Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and a key member of the design team working on the Broadwick Soho project, will join the competition judging panel alongside Head of global brand marketing for Axor Anke Sohn and managing director at Design Insider Alys Bryan.

Anke Sohn of Axor commented: “We are honoured to witness leading designers around the world as they create individual bathroom spaces with Axor.

“It is therefore vital that we continue to support new interior design talent to help them thrive.

“I look forward to seeing how the students in the design competition work with the testing brief we have set.”

Alys Bryan of Design Insider added: “Emerging designers help to formulate fresh ideas and new responses for the industry.

“We are delighted to partner with Axor on this exciting competition which will showcase how the next generation interprets luxury and applies this to a bathroom concept – a project that is typical of our industry and will test their design and planning skills.”

To enter the competition, interior design students must download the entry starter pack and the deadline for submissions is November 1, 2024.

The winner will be announced at the Hotel Interiors Experience (HIX LDN) on November 28, 2024

George McPherson of Martin Brudnizki Design Studio concluded: “Delivering a luxury-based bathroom experience suitable for modern living sets a real design test.

“It is why I am intrigued to see the ideas from young interior design students who will be faced with such projects during their working careers.

“It will be interesting to see how they incorporate Axor into their overall space concepts and create a bathroom experience that stands out.”
