Outgoing Bathroom Manufacturers Association president Jason Parker stated collaboration was a reoccurring theme of its conference, emphasising collective efforts will secure the industry’s future.
Held at Queen’s Hotel in Leeds, the BMA conference saw presentations from experts and thought leaders address the topic of Building Growth in the industry.
It included keynote speeches from Jo Salter, the first female jet pilot, on building a growth mindset and architect Oliver Heath who shone a light on how sustainability and biophilic design to enhance wellbeing, is shaping construction.

There was also a Big Panel debate considering economic factors impacting growth including housebuilding and construction policy, as well as shortage of skilled labour.
“One theme that has come up repeatedly, today, is the importance of collaboration between manufacturers, policy makers and designers to meet the challenges ahead”, stated Jason Parker.
He said despite the current challenging market “there are real opportunities for growth and transformation in our industry. We have the tools, knowledge and partnerships to succeed.
“This conference has reinforced our collective commitment to driving forward the future of bathroom manufacturing, ensuring we continue to innovate and lead the way in setting industry standards.”
Jason Parker said at the start of his two-year presidency the industry was still reeling from Covid, but outlined a new BMA strategy focusing on the environment, maintaining and raising standards. and driving growth, as a key development.
“It has set the groundwork for our continued success as an organisation and industry”, exclaimed Parker.
He added: “Now as trading conditions become more difficult, I remain confident that the future will remain buoyant thanks to our collective efforts.
“We’ve faced policy changes, particularly around issues such as backflow prevention, leaky loos and Building Regulations, but the great news is the Government is now bringing us into these conversations, which is a testament to our value as an industry body.”
Citing the development of the BMA’s role at the Installer Show as a highlight of his presidency, Parker exclaimed it provided an “impactful physical space, an impressive line-up of high profile guests, and the engagement and energy there was incredible.”
He concluded: “I’m proud of what the association has achieved.”
