Humphrey Munson, Bulthaup and Millgate Homes designers all in global final
Luxury USA appliance brand Sub-Zero Wolf has announced three UK-based design professionals among the 53 winners of its biennial Kitchen Design Contest.
Peter Humphrey of Humphrey Munson in Essex, Bennie Mathrau of Bulthaup in London and Theresa Williams of Millgate Homes in Twyford have been named Regional Winners.
They were chosen by a panel of seven judges from more than 1,700 entries across the globe, with their projects named “the most innovative, functional and beautiful kitchen designs using Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances”.

Peter Humphrey was asked to remodel a very large space into a kitchen with a walk-in larder and a large island, creating a timeless kitchen. The judging panel concluded the design was “exquisitely detailed and quintessentially British”, and particularly liked the mirror backsplash.
Bernie Mathru created an industrial-style kitchen in a domestic setting focusing the design not only on the kitchen but the space as a whole. The judges were impressed with how the ductwork for the hood became part of the design and also appreciated the use of tambour doors.
Completing the line-up of UK kitchen designers, Theresa Williams had the goal to create a high-end, traditional kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances and bold colours. The repetition of the cabinetry finish and the wooden worktop were acclaimed by the judging panel.
All three Regional winners have won a trip for two to the Fairmont Scottsdate Princess, a resort in Scottsdale Arizona, where they will attend the national Kitchen Design Contest Best of the Best Summit and Gala from September 13-16.
At the Best of the Best Gala Regional Winners will be grouped into the ‘best of the best’ Contemporary, Transitional and Traditional Kitchens, plus there are awards for Designer’s Choice and First-Time entry.
More than $110,000 in cash prizes will be presented to the winning global kitchen designs.
