Sports commentator and broadcaster Colin Murray will host the Kbsa Designer Awards, held at the Belfry Hotel in the West Midlands on October 1, 2025.

Colin Murray named host of Kbsa Designer Awards 2025

Murray presents Countdown on C4 and Sunday mornings on 5 Live, having previously hosted Fighting Talk.

He presented the Friday night sports preview show, Kicking Off as part of 5 Live Sport and talkSPORT’s mid-morning programme Monday to Friday for three years, tripling the audience in the process.

As a member of the BBC’s World Cup coverage in South Africa, and while in the build-up to the London Olympics he interviewed all living British gold medallists for 5 Live’s acclaimed ‘Gold Rush’.

Murray has maintained a written journalistic career, alongside his broadcasting having published first novel ‘A Random History of Football’, and he is widely published in the print media.

The Kbsa Designer Awards will include nine categories, including new additions of The Bathroom Concept and Signature Spaces Awards.

The full line up of award categories include:

  • Kitchen Designer of the Year (up to £25K)
  • Kitchen Designer of the Year (£25K-50K)
  • Kitchen Designer of the Year (over £50K)
  • Bedroom Designer of the Year
  • Bathroom Designer of the Year
  • Kitchen Concept Designer of the Year
  • Young Designer of the Year
  • Bathroom Concept Designer of the Year
  • Signature Spaces Designer of the Year

All award winners will receive a trophy and framed certificate, while the Young Designer of the Year winner receives a cash prize of £500 and, at the judges’ discretion, an additional award of £1,500 in the form of an educational and training grant.

Kbsa chair Richard Hibbert said: “We are delighted that Colin Murray will be hosting the awards, he has an amazing reputation as an engaging and lively host.

“The new award categories recognise how designers are expanding their skills outside of kitchens and we anticipate some great entries.

“The Kbsa Designer Awards remain a beacon in our industry for their transparency and integrity.

“All entries are judged blind by an independent judging panel, and standards are exceedingly high.

“The awards are only open to members but with some great deals for membership available during March, it is a great time to join and become eligible to be part of the awards.”

The Kbsa Designer Awards will take place after the KBB Industry Conference hosted by broadcast journalist Emma Crosby.
