Houzz survey reveals kitchens still important in home renovation
Online design tool Houzz has revealed almost a third of people say they are happiest in their kitchens, with almost 44% of those happiest owning an island.
According to a survey of nearly 8,000 UK homeowners, about three quarters of users (74%) are proud of their homes, however only one percent feel they have achieved the vision for their home.
When asked what feature homeowners would most like to incorporate in their home, one in five picked designer kitchens, with 26% confessing the kitchen is the area of their home that most needs renovating.

But good news for trade professionals is the survey found one third decorate their homes at least once a year, with 42% renovating at least once every five years.
And among the top reasons for renovations were improving the look and feel (78%), as well as improving functionality (55%). This outweighed those who were seeking to add value to their homes (34%).
Vivienne Sung, UK MD of Houzz, commented: “With this data, we hope to make the design and renovation process more fun and productive for homeowners and design enthusiasts by giving them a glimpse into what goes on behind their neighbours’ curtains. For trade professionals we’re providing insights to the motivations and desires behind planned projects.”
