Service was provided by Mark Two Distributors
Tesco has announced that it has closed its Tesco Kitchens and Tesco Bathrooms business, which was provided by Mark Two Distributors, who last year was purchased by Ultra Finishing.
In a statement, Tesco said the reason behind the closure was because “we identified concerns about their ability to deliver the service our customers expect.” Mark Two is an Installation Standards Partner of the Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom Installers (IKBBI).
Tesco and Mark Two have provided over 11,000 kitchens and bathrooms to customers since 2008, but there are still 300 outstanding orders.

Mark Two has said that alongside jeopardising customer orders, the decision by Tesco will also put 200 jobs at risk in the Bolton area.
In a statement from Mark Two, the company said: “Mark Two Distributors Limited sincerely regrets the inconvenience to customers caused by Tesco’s sudden termination of its contract with it.About a year ago Tesco informed Mark Two of its intention to exit the Kitchen and Bathroom market. Since March 2014 Mark Two has contacted Tesco more than 100 times with little response to seek a mutually satisfactory solution that would protect our joint-customers.”
Customers who have outstanding orders for Tesco Kitchens and Bathrooms have been advised to ring the company’s dedicated helpline on 0800 028 2363. For those whose work has not started, customers will receive a full refund, while those with unfinished work, warranty issues, or fitters currently working on projects have all been directed to the helpline.
In relation to outstanding orders, Mark Two said: “Mark Two is proud of its strong customer and business-to-business track record and believes it is uniquely placed, thanks to the time it’s already invested in planning for the logistics of supplying and fitting the kitchens and bathrooms with bespoke parts, to honour customers’ orders in the run up to Christmas. Mark Two hopes Tesco will work with it to ensure customers get the kitchens and bathrooms they have paid for.”
Upon the announcement a Facebook group called ‘Tesco Kitchens/Mark Two a travesty’ has been set up with disgruntled customers voicing their opinions and concerns.
