Peter Jones, founder and director of specialist recruitment agency Foyne Jones, says if the KBB industry doesn’t allow for hybrid working, it  will lose out on quality recruits

This article was written while I was working in Taormina, a beautiful hill top town on the East Coast of Sicily.

So, unsurprisingly, it is about remote working in the KBB Industry.

Let’s look at where we are now, the opportunity and how we can all embrace this positively

Where are we now

When we look back to the pandemic, flexible and remote working became a necessity rather than something which was trendy and a perceived benefit.

However, in 2024, there has been a huge shift to get people back into showrooms and offices.

Other industries and sectors are fully embracing remote work and, globally, it is transforming how professionals operate and collaborate.

The reality is the KBB industry is lagging behind.

So is it time for a wake- up call which will send a powerful message to future generations of job seekers, entrepreneurs and business leaders?

Why remote working is important

1. Flexibility: Remote work offers better work-life balance.

2. Expanded opportunities: Geographical barriers are reduced, allowing for global job prospects.

3. Skill development: Proficiency in digital tools and virtual collaboration is highly valued.

4. Adaptability: Demonstrating the ability to adapt to new technologies enhances competitiveness.

Advice for business owners

1. Invest in technology: Ensure your team has access to the latest design software, AR/VR tools, and project management platforms.

2. Train Your team: Provide training for digital tools and remote collaboration techniques to keep your team efficient and effective.

3. Maintain clear communication: Use reliable communication platforms to keep in touch with your team and clients, ensuring everyone is on the same page.

4. Foster a hybrid work environment: Balance remote work with in-person interactions for tasks that benefit from physical presence, like final selections and installations.

Embrace La Dolce Vita

The obvious pathway is for the KBB industry to move towards a more hybrid model, blending remote and in-person work for optimal efficiency and client satisfaction.

However, navigating this new working landscape can be challenging

As specialists in recruitment for the KBB industry, Foyne Jones understands the unique demands of this sector and can help you and connect with the most talented individuals all of who are looking for something different and creative in their careers.

Remember for future job seekers, remote work offers flexibility, expanded opportunities, and valuable skill development.

Business owners should invest in technology, train their teams, and maintain clear communication to thrive in this evolving landscape.

This will enable you to seamlessly transition into this new era and ensure your business remains competitive and innovative.

We can argue against it or start to embrace La Dolce Vita

Sintered stone manufacturer Neolith has launched Calacatta Roma and Cappadocia Sunset, inspired by nature and classical architecture, and for use in kitchens or bathrooms walls, floors, in gardens or facades.

Neolith | Calacatta Roma and Cappadocia Sunset

They belong to The New Classtone and Fusioncollections which interpret marble and natural stone, respectively, and boast Neolith’s antibacterial NeolEAT technology.

Inspired by Ancient Rome,  Calacatta Roma (pictured top) pays homage to Italian Carrara marble, with ochre and grey veins in a white background.

While the Cappadocia region, in central Turkey, with its rock formations formed by volcanoes and underground cities, has inspired Cappadocia Sunset (pictured below).

Just like all of Neolith’s surfaces, Calacatta Roma and Cappadocia Sunset are resistant to heat and atmospheric conditions, are 100% recyclable, and do not contain added quartz to their formulation.
