Malmo, Erin, Stowe, Kemble and Kinsale ranges all awarded FIRA Gold
Kitchen manufacturer Burbidge has been awarded FIRA Gold status for a selection of its frontals, including Malmo, Erin, Stowe, Kemble and Kinsale.
FIRA Gold certification is a quality mark operated by FIRA International and backed by the Furniture Industry Research Association, and is presented following assessment of a company’s products.
The testing includes finish performance to see how frontals react to humidity, staining by commonly used kitchen chemicals, as well as workmanship.

In addition, FIRA Gold has been designed to ensure consistency, by regular audit testing and inspections.
General manager for FIRA International, Phil Reynolds explained: “By following these strict processes, FIRA Gold provides on-going reassurance to specifiers, retailers and their customers.”
Established in 1867 by the great, great grandfather of current managing director Ben Burbidge, the company has a heritage in woodworking, having started life making wooden sports equipment, such as cricket stumps. In 1973, Burbidge began to develop its own kitchen furniture range.
Managing director at Burbidge & Son, Ben Burbidge commented: “Receiving FIRA Gold status for our products not only recognises the quality of our products, it gives our customers the reassurance that every one of our products is manufactured to the same high standards and will give premium performance. It also recognises the hard work and pride that Jeff [Jeff Gwilliam, manufacturing and operations director] and his team invest into every product we make.”
