The aim is to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, including mental health, suicide prevention, prostate, and testicular cancer.

According to official date, men working in the trade face a suicide rate nearly four times higher than other professions, with those in finishing trades at double the risk.

On average, two tradesmen take their own lives each day in the UK.

With strong ties to tradesmen across the UK, Howdens reports Movember aligns with Howdens’ commitment to the wellbeing of its workforce and trade partners.

Additionally, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

Since its founding in 2003, Movember has raised £790 million and funded over 1,320 men’s health projects worldwide.

Howdens raised £50,000 for Movember in 2023, and this year the company plans to roll out a variety of initiatives to encourage even more participation and donations.

Its initiatives include raising money through 850 plus depots and a chance to win a £5,000 kitchen.

The Howdens operations team will also be taking on a 24-hour challenge with Movember-themed initiatives and events at individual depots.

Each of Howdens’ nine regions have appointed a Movember representative to motivate their regional depots and rally more teams to get involved.

Howdens company secretary Forbes McNaughton said of the continued partnership, “Partnering with Movember again is a natural extension of our founding principle at Howdens of being worthwhile for all concerned.

“The health and wellbeing of our staff, trade customers, suppliers and local communities is a priority, and we’re committed to supporting them in every way possible.”

Country director UK & Europe at Movember Anne-Cecile Berthier added: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Howdens back for another year supporting campaign and raising funds for our life-saving work.

“We’re taking on some of the biggest issues affecting men, and we couldn’t do it without the support of partners like Howden and our super star fundraisers and community supporters.”
