Distributor of surface materials International Decorative Surfaces (IDS) has called in administrators who have put the business up for sale.
Alastair Massey and Tony Wright of specialist business advisory firm FRP Advisory have been appointed Joint Administrators.
According to the administrators, their appointment follows the “significant” slowdown in the property and construction sectors leading to funding difficulties at IDS.

At the time of appointment, International Decorative Surfaces employed around 393 people, with an unconfirmed number made redundant.
FRP is assisting those affected through the Redundancy Payments Service.
Established for more than 25 years, it is reported to be one of Europe’s largest distributors of decorative surface materials.
The company is based across 12 sites in England and Scotland, 11 of which remain operational and had a stockholding of over 6,000 product lines.
The joint administrators are continuing to trade through the stock holding, marketing the business and its assets for sale.
Partner at FRP and joint administrator of International Decorative Surfaces Alastair Massey said: “While IDS has faced significant challenges in recent months, it remains a business with considerable strengths and capabilities.
“We’re now focused on exploring all options to secure a future for the business, including marketing it for sale and we would encourage any parties interested in acquiring the business to make contact with us as soon as possible.”
