Neil Tunstall added: “We are very ambitious; we would like to be number one in Europe. We will do that, we believe, from creating a true, smart home ecosystem.”

Recognised as one of the world’s Top 100 Most Valuable Brands, by Kantar Brandz, Tunstall said: “Haier is the world’s only true IoT Ecosystem brand and that has been measured over the last six years.”

Listed by Fortune as one of the Most Admired Companies and in the Fortune 500, Haier is also the first Asian company to be awarded King Charles’ Terra Carta Seal because of its commitment to sustainability and environmental credentials.

Neil Tunstall added: “Sustainability is the biggest issue for our industry the biggest issue for our entire planet.”

He explained the company has reduced manufacturing and distribution emissions by 20%, cut water by 38% and reduced waste by 98%, and committed to targets with the  Science Based Targets Initiative.

However, Tunstall says the biggest impact is from use of appliances but points out IoT can enable people to live more sustainably, with 8million of its consumers already connected.

He pointed out how IoT and its hOn app can inform consumers about energy use, provide a maintenance warning to make appliances last longer and remote assistance, with AI to use resources more efficiently.

Neil Tunstall added new for 2024 was smart grid connection from energy supplies to use ‘green’ tariffs and integration with solar, with a suite of products, using energy from the sun for household appliances.

“This will be the provocation that we’ll have in the future that all products must be connected so they can run on green energy”, Tunstall said.

Tunstall says consumers can now manage, track, programme or delegate energy management of smart appliances, HVAC, solar and grids through it hOn app.

Haier Europe hosted its Candy, Hoover and Haier brands on its stand at IFA and  at the heart was a space dedicated to Haier Europe’s Extended Smart Home Ecosystem.
