KBB trade associations have slammed a survey which reports kitchen fitters are the most “unprofessional” trade.
Commissioned by showerstoyou.co.uk, the survey of 1,644 people found that 73% believed kitchen fitters to be the most “unprofessional” trade, followed by tilers, builders and roofers.
CEO of the British Institute of Kitchen Bedroom and Bathroom Installers Damian Walters wrote on twitter: “An interesting survey about how bad kitchen fitters are…conducted by a bathroom retailer lol. It’s a little like the Spanish government doing a poll and after speaking to a dozen patriots concluding Greece is a rubbish destination. Fake news!”

And his view was supported by award-winning installation company Liberty Fitting Services, who added on Twitter: “I think it is also worth pointing out that in a country of over 67million, this was a survey of 1,644 of them.
“Headlines/sound bites have a habit of sticking though. Amusing that this was a survey by a bathroom retailer.”
The Kbsa also responded, with figures to show its retailers are ranked highly for their overall level of service.
The Kbsa results are gathered from customers of retail members, when they are asked to rank their satisfaction with the overall service received.
Results for the 12-month period 2018 to 2019 showed 81% of respondents, gave their Kbsa retailer a score of more than 4.5 out of 5, with 57% giving their Kbsa retailer a perfect score of 5 out of 5.
“These results are in stark contrast to those from online retailer Showerstoyou.co.uk”, said Kbsa chair Richard Hibbert.
“According to its results, 73% of respondents said that kitchen fitters were the most unprofessional, this is clearly not the case when kitchens are fitted by Kbsa retailers.
“Independent Kbsa members use trained and experienced fitters either employed directly by them or under their direct control.
“This enables them to maintain the high standards of design, supply, installation and customer service that all members strive to uphold.”
