UK manufacturer of fitted kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture Symphony Group has congratulated the first graduates of its Principles of Kitchen Design course.

Covering basic planning principles and product knowledge, through to materials, trends and styles; the course is designed for those working in retail showrooms and merchants.

Although aimed at beginners to kitchen design, it also suits those that are brand new to the industry.

Training manager of Symphony Group Emma Banks said: “I’m very proud that we’re able to offer bespoke training courses for our customers and the hard work and effort that the first round of candidates have put in has been phenomenal.

“We’ve invested in our training facilities over the last 12 months, with lots of exciting new developments coming up.

“This course is completed over a period of three months and covers a lot of ground in the three days that we spend in our Symphony Training and Design Centre at the Symphony head office.”

She continued: “We understand that we must balance the subject with the reality as we know our customers can’t be away from the showroom or office for long periods of time. Which is why the course incorporates lots of hands-on training with the products as well as online learning modules.”

Recent graduate Kirstie Hadcroft from Howarth Timber said: ‘I’ve found all stages of this course really valuable while I’ve been progressing in what is a new industry for me.

“Courses are kept relaxed and casual but delivered professionally and with a view to providing up-to-date and concise knowledge at each level.

“You’re able to request training in specific areas if requested in advance, and there’s the added bonus of having a fabulous showroom to get hands-on experience.”

Pippa Campbell from Complete Bathrooms was one of the first to complete the course, and commented: “[it was] a great opportunity to familiarise [myself] with previous principles and a more in-depth look at touches that can take your kitchen design to the next level for my clients – A great, worthwhile and helpful course”

While most courses are held at the Training and Design Centre in South Yorkshire, Symphony also offers free online training and, for larger groups, will also arrange bespoke training for customers at their premises.

Symphony recently scooped its own award as Barratt’s Best Service Provider.
